If I was still thinking and talking about a game a month after I played it, it was list-worthy.
If I came back to a game again and again, it was list-worthy. My criteria for being on this list was that a game should either have lasting ideas of lasting gameplay. Which is better: Kung-fu movies, ice cream, or Orbital? Depends on when you ask me. But appraising greatness among disparate items is folly. It’s easier when you’re sorting the “worst of” lists, since you can rate games based on how angry they made you.
#TRAIN SIMULATOR 2013 PART 1 HOW TO#
I loved both Gone Home and Tomb Raider, but I have no idea how to sort them in a relative sense. This is nominally my “game of the year” list, but don’t read too much into the order. Is this the start of a trend? Is this just an odd year? Will indies stand out again? Will the industry continue to fracture into more niche markets? Will the freshly minted generation of console hardware herald new and exciting titles that will overshadow the indie market? It’s just that the games I’m playing and thinking about are mostly indie this year. (Note that my last-gen consoles are dead and gone, so I didn’t get to play GTA V or Last of Us yet.) We had some solid titles. It’s one thing to have a couple of exceptional indies elbow their way onto the stage, but it’s another when you can’t see most of the AAA games because there are too dang many indies in the way.Īnd it’s not that this was a dud year for AAA games, either. This year is significant because this is the first time my end-of-year list is mostly indie titles. Well I’m calling THIS year the year of the indies, and if next year is somehow even MORE indie then I don’t know what we’ll call it. Then The Walking Dead swept the GOTY lists, so it was year of the indies. I don’t recall.) Minecraft was a smash hit, so it was year of the indies. If you tell us what the problems where, someone might be able to help. The last few years have been dubbed “year of the indies” by various people.

Did your PC also meet the minimum specs? I know a lot of people who buy a game on PC but don't check the specs only to find out they don't have a PC powerful enough to play it, and TS2014 (and other Railworks/Train Sim games) have required a relatively powerful PC. What was the problem you were actually having? The chances are Steam support couldn't help because it was probably a problem with the game. Disc is for the most part quicker since you don't have to download the game.

The hard copy would have had a key for Steam, you could input that key into Steam and then either download the game from there, or use the disc to install the game and then download any patches once installation was complete. Same goes for the Steam forums (the old ones). Steam support is separate from Steam itself, so even when Steam goes down, their support site (with the exception of once or twice) is usually still up. Most will take a few days to reply! It takes me a few weeks to usually get a response out of a TOC! Secondly, Steam support take 1 or 2 weeks to reply, not 1 or 2 days! You can't expect support there and then from any company. Firstly, there is no Microsoft TS 2014? Do you mean just TS2014 by Dovetail Games/?
